A friendly
tip from Centennial's Environmental Club:
When recycling aluminum cans, such as those used for soup,
remove the labels. Many recycling plants will not process the
cans if the label is still on it!
Robotics Team
Centrobotics
would like to congratulate Jack Laurence and Sky Hannah who are
the combined winners of the logo competition. They have each won
an IPod touch.
WAYS
TO STAY GREEN!
Canadians are
among the heaviest users of energy in the world, on a per capita
basis. By the age of six months, each Canadian has consumed as
many resources as the average person in a developing country has
in his or her lifetime. You don’t have to be in the
environmental club to do your part for the environment. The
environmental club has found out ways to do everyday tasks and
still save our planet. These simple tasks can be done at school,
when shopping, and at home. These things include:
-Turning off
equipment when not in use (including taps and electronics)
-Recycle paper, plastic, glass, and waste. When you recycle one
aluminium can it saves enough energy to operate a TV for 3
hours.
-Using refillable water bottles instead of plastic (it is safer
and cheaper).
-Using containers instead of plastic bags for lunches.
-Buying energy efficient products.
-Use recycled paper. Every ton of recycled office paper saves
380 gallons of oil.

A huge
congratulations goes out to your Centennial Cheerleaders who

Track
Track Fact #6:The World Record in the women's 400 metre hurdles is
held by Yuliya Pechonkina (YOO-lee-yuh petch-on-KEEN-uh) of Russia,
who ran an outrageous 52.34 seconds in 2003. The greatest 400-metre
girls relay team this school ever had was Carly, Shelby, Olenka, and
Michelle, and these girls would have eaten the dust of this mad
Russian, who was not only running by herself, but had to jump over
10 barriers while doing so!
Attention all track team athletes! Optional practices begin March 1, so
come out for some pre-season conditioning to get a leg up on the
competition. Regular mandatory practices begin after the March Break.
Attention all athletes still interested in joining the track team -
practices have begun, but new athletes are always welcome to join. If
you would like to run, jump, or throw things while representing
Centennial at a number of full day events away from the school, either
show up starting March 8 for optional practices or see Mr. Lavictoire to
talk about specifics for the team. Regular mandatory practice begins
after March Break, and our first track meet will be April 23 in
Kitchener.

Badminton tryouts
will be on Monday March 8 at 3:00 pm in the large gym.
